U.S. TV Marathon Weekend Pt 1

It's the new TV season in the States so I've got in some extra beer, chocolate and things to nibble on whilst watching some shows...

Bones is a new series featuring a female forensic anthropologist (Emily Deschanel), nicknamed 'Bones', who, partnered by a male FBI agent (David Boreanaz), investigates and solves murder cases.

The pilot episode was a little poor and just seemed like another CSI/Cold Case clone. Too much happening too fast, an annoying wise-cracking supporting cast and a stupid 'piece the skull together' interlude over a soft rock track. We've seen this before. The second episode, about a 'terrorist' from the 'Middle East', was much better, although still not great. Too much cliched stuff about 'not all Arabs' are terrorists (yes we know that thank you) before the bomber is shown to be an Arab. Hmm... I'm not sure where this series is heading. Hopefully it will be more in the direction of Mulder and Scully rather than CSI: Washington.

nip/tuck is back for a third season with an extended length opener! The episode starts with a recap of what The Carver did in the previous season's cliffhanger. This is followed by the funeral of one of our two favourite plastic surgeons! For those who haven't seen it yet I won't spoil things by revealing which one is in the casket. Add a little Jerry Springer, a divorce and a threesome and the show is still as sexy and as gruesome as ever.
