Wolf Creek and Land Of The Dead
The excellent Wolf Creek and Land of The Dead both hit UK cinemas this month. Anyone who is planning to back pack around Australia and venture into the Outback will probably have second thoughts after seeing Wolf Creek. That nice Aussie guy you meet at the Sheep station could be a psycho with a very big knife. All the better to gut you with. I doubt that Quantas will be showing this movie on their inbound flights. A tense, well acted treat with stunning scenery. More than just the Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Kangaroos.
Whilst not as good as the earlier Dead Trilogy of films (Night, Dawn and Day) George A. Romero's Land of The Dead is still great entertainment. Fun Zombie bashing, the lovely Asia Argento and even a bit of social satire raise this above recent 'undead' movies like the Dawn remake or 28 Days Later (yes I know they are not Zombies!).
(WARNING: avoid the unofficial sequel Day Of The Dead 2: Contagium like the plague!
