Fantastic? Four

To say that the Fantastic Four movie was a major disappointment is a major understatement. Some poor casting (Jessica Alba is sooo wrong as Sue Storm), lousy effects and messing with the Doctor Doom story, all contributed to a lame film. It was all so lightweight and not a fitting tribute to the 'World's Greatest Comic'.

Surf's up Dude!So the sequel has got to be better right? Well, I'm not so sure. Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer is a lousy title.

OK, it looks like it will be based around the classic FF story about the arrival on Earth of the Silver Surfer, herald of the planet devouring Galactus. So far so good, but you know, the Surfer, whilst an iconic Marvel image, is a pretty dull character.

Everyone will be wanting to see the FF go up against Galactus, although I suspect that, other than a glimpse at the end, we'll not get to see this until the third movie in a couple of years time.

The TV spot below is both encouraging (more action than the first film?) and puke inducing (that Jessica Alba line, Sheeesh!) at the same time...

I'm not expecting FF:RotSS to be anywhere near as good as Spider-Man 3 (there's not much chance of that) but it had better be an improvement on the first film else it's Clobberin' Time!
By taking on the Silver Surfer/Galactus story the stakes are bigger this time and if they get it wrong they have got a long way to fall.

Roll on Iron Man in 2008.

Sorry if the above sounds a bit negative but I'm still reeling over the death of Captain America. A subject that deserves its own post, however, I wouldn't know where to start or be able to do the character justice.
