Forced to confess

There must be something wrong with me. I can see that now. I'm surprised nobody has tried contacting me to see that I'm OK. A concerned phone call perhaps? An email? No.

You see Doc, I've just realised it's been well over a month since my last Springsteen post! Time for the cure...

I never used to be a great fan of Backstreets on the Born To Run album; for me it was too long and with all that primal groaning going on I'd always prefer to jump back to the more upbeat Tenth Avenue Freeze Out. These days however, after seeing Bruce perform it a ridiculously large number of times, the song is now one of my favourites.

The version in the unreleased video below is just tremendous. With its slow burn opening and 'nothing but a promise' mid-section, it sends shivers down my spine. If you can, watch it with the lights off...

Backstreets - Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band
Born In the USA Tour, Toronto July 26th 1984

I've just noticed it's over the 10 minute YouTube limit - I must have snuck it past them when they were asleep. These days of course YouTube is removing videos faster than Keeley Hazell, so watch it while you can!

Coming soon to Bruce world: more excellent unreleased footage from '85 and '93. Nurse, the screens!
