Waxing Lyrical
I was initially put off seeing House Of Wax (2005) due to all of the publicity about Paris Hilton being in it. So I'm pleasantly surprised to say that this is a well made, creepy, disgusting but fun, above average teen killing horror flick. Other than the title (and featuring a House Of Wax) it bares little resemblance to the 1953 Vincent Price 3D shocker. It's more of a Texas Chainsaw/Wrong Turn backwoods killer family type romp. With added wax. Lot's of it.
Elisha Cuthbert is the star of this movie and she is great in it. She really goes through the wringer, both physically and emotionally. Her character is much more likeable than that of the annoying Kim Bauer in 24.
Paris is thankfully relegated to a minor role. However her performance is an improvement over the last film I saw her in!
