Worst Case Scenario

Just got back from a weekend in Edinburgh, taking in some of the films at Dead By Dawn 2006. As usual it was a fun, well run event. There were no real gems on show this year - Severed (Zombies running slowly around a forest) was pretty awful, Blood Trails (German Mountain Biker serial killer movie) was... boring. Broken (Psycho survivalist captures women and tortures them if they don't keep his vegetable garden growing!) was quite good. The Ghost Inside (a Chinese Grudge/Dark Water type horror) and The Last Supper (Japanese Plastic surgeon eats his female patients) were OK.

Tony Todd was the special guest of the weekend and two of his recent films were shown, I.O.U. and Shadow: Dead Riot. For me these were the most enjoyable screenings of DBD. I.O.U. was a well made short about a man trying to get over the death of his wife. Depressed, he gets chatting to a woman on the internet and eventually believes he has something to look forward to in life. Until that is he actually meets her... Shadow: Dead Riot was a totally different kettle of fish. Pure trash a proud of it. It's an outrageously tasteless Women in Prison/Zombie romp with some great Hong Kong style fight scenes. Sure it has a bad script and bad acting but it's so deliriously over the top that it really doesn't matter. Bonkers!

One last thing to mention is a promo that was shown for WORST CASE SCENARIO. Check it out here. What a great concept! Hopefully it will get made someday. Before they try and invade again.
