Virgin on the ridiculous
Yesterday involved a long trip to the majestic Yosemite National Park.
It was worth every mile. My first visit was way back in 1980. Back then I remember thinking that Yosemite Valley was the most staggeringly beautiful place in the world. Now having made my third visit I still feel the same way.
At times it seemed like there were too many tourists but it was easy to get away and be alone.
El Capitan, the Half Dome and Yosemite Falls are just breathtaking. At this time of year there is plenty of water, the Merced river is high and the meadows are lush and welcoming. A hard place to leave.
Today began with me having a few hours to kill before catching my flight home to London. With no plan in mind I decided to just randomly walk around the city and see what I stumbled across. Chinatown. SF's Chinatown is enormous, almost a city in it's own right. I treated myself to 4 old Hong Kong DVDs: three featuring Stephen Chow (Sixty Million Dollar Man, From Beijing With Love and Forbidden City Cop) and one with Sammo Hung (Point Of No Return). They'll go straight to the top of my unwatched DVD pile.
When I got to the Airport I was approached by a nice young Virgin man who asked me if I'd like to stay an extra night in San Francisco... in return for a free Virgin economy return flight to anywhere in the world (that they fly to - excluding Australia). Duh! I said yes. So that's another holiday I'll be planning soon! The only downside is spending the rest of my time here at an airport hotel - but the room is free, plus there's a free cocktail reception tonight, a free meal and a free breakfast. Not too bad then.
I wonder if one of the hotel cable channels will carry the England game tomorrow?
