It was beauty that killed the beast

I've just received a 3 DVD set of the new extended version of Peter Jackson's KING KONG in the post. A few weeks ago when I ordered it I was pretty excited about watching all the extra goodies. Now that it has arrived though I don't think I've got the energy or patience to sit through it. I loved Jackson's remake but at 3 hours and 7 minutes long it was a bum-numbing experience. This extended version is 13 minutes longer than that! I'm sure all the new stuff is going to be good but really the film could be improved by shaving off 13 minutes rather than adding them.

Peter Jackson's King Kong is now 97 minutes longer than the classic 1933 original. Too much of a good thing? I think so, hell you could tell the same story in just 30 seconds...
