'Urbanophagia'
Another beautiful sunny day in London today. So hot it felt like the city might melt - something not as far-fetched as it might sound. In Trafalgar Square, at (appropriately) lunch time, an event called Eat London took place.
Food artist Alicia Rios and architect Barbara Ortiz designed a scaled down food model of the city centre from Hyde Park to Tower Bridge and from the BT Tower south to Elephant and Castle. Major landmarks included.
Local community groups cooked and built the individual sections and at 1:30pm all the pieces of the city were put together. The result was quite impressive (if a little weird). I didn't hang around for long. Hopefully at some point the crowd were allowed to devour the city they were standing in. Wow, that sounds deep. Makes you think doesn't it? So it must be art then?
In the picture below you can easily spot the (leaning) BT Tower (made from Bagels), the Gerkin (grapes), Centre Point (waffles) and the London Eye...
