Intelligent? Design?
As I alluded to previously, hanging around Kings Cross station late a night, waiting for a train, is a crummy experience. I've been doing it quite a bit over the last few weeks. To kill time you can either go and get a burger or buy a magazine - neither of which you really want or need, it's just something to do until the last train home. Last week I ended up buying the latest issue of Wired magazine.
Wired is not something I'd normally buy because it usually seems to contain more ads than readable content. However, in the May issue I found an interesting piece about the popularity of the theory of Evolution versus that of Intelligent Design. Apparently 75% of the population of the UK agrees with evolutionary theory - i.e. life was created naturally and not by a higher intelligence. Out of the 30 countries surveyed, the UK comes a respectable 6th behind Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, France and Japan.
The USA comes 29th with just 40%. That could explain a lot!
On the 6th day God created Cheeseburgers*...
*Actually, according to Bruce Springsteen, Cheeseburgers were created on the 1st day.
