Lost 1993 TV Special *

More unreleased footage of Bruce Springsteen and his much maligned 'Other Band' of the 1992-3 tour. A nice not-for-sale fan produced 2 DVD package called The Lost 1993 TV Special is now in circulation. It features songs that were intended to be considered for TV from the Stockholm and Milton Keynes shows of that spring. However, they have remained hidden for 14 years... until now!

I was at the MK show so I might post a rare 'Viva Las Vegas' later but for the time being, from the Stockholm encores, here's that famous John Fogerty song...

* And no, it has nothing to do with Desmond going back in time and changing the future such that we are confronted with weird characters Nikki and Paulo who have seemingly appeared on the island out of nowhere. Or has it?

Keep On Chooglin'

John Fogerty played at the Hammersmith Apollo last night. I saw a two hour, career spanning showcase of his great singing, songwriting and guitar playing. Umpteen Fogerty and Creedence classics.

I'd say that the show included more brilliantly played guitar solos and hooks than anybody else could possibly put together. The audience, being British and well past their youth, took a while to let what hair they still had down. However, as soon as the first note of Down On The Corner was played there was a stage rush (amble). People stood up to dance, knowing that the gig was going to build up with hit after hit to a Proud Mary finish.

A good show always leaves you wanting more and I would have loved to have heard him play Run Through The Jungle, Rock And Roll Girls or Almost Saturday Night. It was really nice though to get an unexpected Cotton Fields and this oldie, from a time when men had beards...

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Looking Out My Backdoor

There's a really good set of photos taken by 'Warby' right here.

Set List: Travelin' Band/Green River/Who'll Stop The Rain/It Came Out Of The Sky/Lookin' Out My Back Door/Blue Moon Nights/Commotion/Born On The Bayou/Porterville/Cotton Fields/Ramble Tamble/Midnight Special/Bootleg/Deja Vu/Heard It Through The Grapevine/Have You Ever Seen The Rain?/Sweet Hitch-Hiker/Long As I Can See The Light/Keep On Chooglin'/Down On The Corner/Centerfield/Up Around The Bend/Old Man Down The Road/Bad Moon Rising/Fortunate Son/Rockin' All Over The World/Proud Mary

Whilst I'm posting I might as well include a cover version of one of his songs - don't worry it's not Status Quo! This one is for all you Lycanthropes out there.

Fog Alert

John Fogerty is touring Europe this summer and I'll be going along to his London Hammersmith show on June 29. Fogerty is one of the all-time great American songwriters and this is a rare opportunity to see him perform.

The Long Road Home tour is a 'best of' tour that is tied to the recent CD release of the same name. It will no doubt feature loads of old favourites from way back in his Creedence Clearwater Revival days and through his solo career to the present day...
Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Rocking All Over The World, Born On The Bayou, Who'll Stop The Rain?, Centerfield, Run Through The Jungle, Down On Corner... and many more.

Here's a brief clip of John singing Fortunate Son
[A point for naming the famous band he's sitting in with during this 'Vote For Change' tour show]
