Liquid in the park

Wet Wet Wet!
Fresh from their Hope and Anchor gig, indie dad-rock band Liquid are out again this week. They are playing on wednesday at the Lark In The Park, Islington. They should be showcasing some new material, including the jaunty melancholy of Face.

See www.liquid-band.net for details and more free downloads.

The Only Liquid Boy In New Cross

liquid-ating Circumstances

My apologies for the delay liquid watchers but I've been away. Here are a few snaps from last Friday's gig at the Miller.

The size of crowd was a little down on their last outing at the Pop Bar - apparently there was also some big party going on in Mayfair (Happy Birthday Da Biike).

Penis envy?
It was another good performance but the band seemed less focused than before.

The sound was a bit fuzzy too. However, it should be noted that this reviewer (and other audience members) had had perhaps a little too much to drink to be able to listen to or focus on anything.

Cheers!

Sex And Drugs And Rock 'n' Roll

'Are all my brain and body need'.

Well Mr Dury I'm about to get the Rock 'n' Roll portion at least.

I'm still feeling a bit nonplussed about Ryan Adams' performance on Sunday but it's now time for me to get ready for the following upcoming musical delights:

  • Wed October 4th - Seafood play 93ft East... which is apparently somewhere in Brick Lane, London (so at least there'll be a good pre-gig curry).
  • Fri October 6th - Liquid return for their second gig. This time it's at The Miller of Mansfield, London. Singer/songwriter Paul Fallon, part of the London Underground movement, has put together a slick band who will no doubt be buoyed by the success of his Easter Egg Hunt video.
  • Sat October 14th - Super-talented guitarist Bill Nelson plays an instrumental set @ The Hilton, York (Sold Out)
  • Mon October 16th - Jonathan Richman is back to charm everyone with his usual style of rockin' and romance. This time he's at the Union Chapel, Islington, London
  • Mon October 23rd - It's The Squits in New Delhi.

Total Recall

Shit, apparently it's International Blog Day today. I guess it means that I'm expected to write another post even if I've got nothing witty or informative to say (what do you mean that hasn't stopped me in the past?). Oh the pressure.

I'm feeling mightily hungover this morning. I really must have had too much alcohol last night as I ended up buying a copy of Mojo magazine at Kings Cross Station on the way home. Nobody ever writes about this side effect of the demon drink.

Mind your headThe night had started so well; With Musty MC not being able to turn down a free meal, it was just Da Biike and myself who went along to Soho's Pop Bar to see the first live gig by Liquid. Very good it was too.

I'll be selling this set list on eBay one day!Singer/songwriter/guitarist Paul Fallon, a member of the London Underground movement, got this band together at very short notice. Any lack of rehearsal time didn't show as their performance went down well with the enthusiastic audience.

One of the good things about blogging this stuff is that in 3 years time I might be thinking What was I doing 3 years ago? Ah yes, I was at the Pop Bar, I went to the first ever Liquid gig!

Now what was I doing 3 years ago today? I was at Giants Stadium, New Jersey. Thanks to the tapers that were there I can now look back and remember a great night. It was show number 10 of the 10 show stand at the Stadium that summer and this was the last song that was played; A goosebump giving moment for all those who were there.

What's In A Name?

Just got back from a good night rapping with members of the old BeeTee Posse. Musty MC, Evans Da Biike and Liquid Singer/Songwriter Poncé were all on good form. I left homeward bound with a warm glow that got me through a delayed train (due to a broken Toilet door) and a Bus Replacement service.

Too old for the Camden Crawl? For fans of progressive Dad rock, I've added a track by Poncé to the Get On The Beam Jukebox (see sidebar).
