Glock Rock

I've had a liking for a bit of glockenspiel in rock and pop music since I first heard Born To Run; it can chime and sparkle like stars adding life to a deep black sky. Is it me or is there a bit of a resurgence of the glock in today's music? Maybe I'm just imagining it, but it gives me an excuse to post a couple of nice videos from bands that I like...

A couple of years ago I saw Canadian twins Tegan and Sara play as a support act here in London. I can't remember the exact location or who they were supporting but I know that I was impressed enough to buy their So Jealous album. Currently they are back here on a sell out tour promoting their new CD. Here's a nice cut-down glockenspiel version of a song from The Con.

Tegan and Sara - Back In Your Head (acoustic live)

My second 'tinkley' tune has to be from those refreshing youngsters Los Campesinos. I posted an mp3 link to this infectious track a few months back. It's gorgeous, plus it has a cracking animated video (which I'm always looking to feature in this blog - see all AMV's).

Los Campesinos - We throw parties, you throw knives

The video for their excellent follow up single 'You! Me! Dancing!' continues the story of mankind's expansion and fighting across the universe. I'm looking forward to their first album. Let the glock rock!

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

It's one of those nice days where I don't have to fight through the zombie crowds at Tesco. Time to relax and listen to some new tunes via the interweb at Pitchfork. Nothing too noisy for a Sunday, just nice music to bob your head and tap your toes to...
